SO, HOW DOES THE COSMETIC TATTOO PROCESS WORK?

The first step of the process is for you to prepare for your appointment by reviewing our FAQ & Pre & Post Care. If you still have questions or concerns, we recommend booking an in-person or virtual consultation.
Following pre care is just as important as any other part of the procedure and if not followed properly, can adversely effect your final result.

Your first visit with us is so important! It can be intimidating and nerve wracking to have a cosmetic tattoo, especially for the first time. We understand that and work to make you feel comfortable from the moment you walk through our doors.
Once you arrive at the studio, we first take the time to chat about your goals in a consultation. Maris will ask questions about your style preference and lifestyle, as well as look at your brows/lips, skin type, inspo pictures to help best match you with the best results. All services are custom here at Wild Violet and she will match you with the perfect technique and pigment to create the best result for you. Once the consultation is over, you will be invited into the treatment room where you will lie down on the table. We will clean and sanitize the area, and take pre-service photos.

After the consult, Maris will map your brows/lips using advanced methods to achieve the most symmetry possible. This is a collaborative process and you will have plenty of opportunities to request changes regarding shape. For brows, we will remove any hair outside the template, but never any INSIDE the template. Pigment selection for brows is based off your natural brow color to give you the most natural results. Color selection for lips is based off your natural lip color and desired results. Maris will show you a color chart and walk you through the process
Maris’ philosophy is that less is always more, especially at the initial session. It’s always better to be conservative with thickness, shape and pigment selection, because we can always add more, but we can’t take away as easily!
When we are both happy with this template drawing and pigment selection, we will take template photos and apply pre-numb.

After the pre-numb sits for 15 min, we then proceed to tattoo the approved design into the area. This process takes around 1-1.5 hours and usually consists of around 3 passes on each brow. The first pass secures the template shape, the second gets the bulk of the color in, and the final pass perfects the design and strengthens any areas needed.

The reveal! When we are happy with the result, we will then show you your final look. Be warned, brows and lips will look stronger, brighter and more defined than the healed result. The color will be darker (by about 30%-40%) and more ‘perfect’ looking. They will be much more warm in tone than the healed and chosen color. This is temporary and within 2 weeks, you will have faded to your desired color. Lips will be swollen and this usually subsides within about 24 hours.

We will finish up by sharing our custom and personalized aftercare kit, so you know how protect your investment. We will also book your 6-12 Week Perfecting Session before you leave to ensure your follow-up is on your calendar.
Over the next 10 days, your brow/lips will heal into the skin and settle. Although the top most layers of your skin will be healed in about 10 days, it takes 4 weeks to see the final result. Within 4 weeks, the undermost layers of skin will be fully healed as well, and the final result and color is revealed.

Your second visit with us in 6-12 weeks is just as important as the first! To achieve long lasting and perfected results, your brows/lips will need a second session 6-12 weeks after the Initial. This not only allows for Maris to access your healed results and pigment retention, but allows for any adjustments to shape and pigment to be made and ensures you get the best long term result. Remember Maris’ philosophy that less is more? This the session that will allow for “more” if needed!
You will have a second healing process after this session, although it is often much easier and less intense than the first session. In some cases, if we are both happy with the result, you may not need this second session. It is also possible that you may need a 3rd session in some circumstances.

After your Initial + Perfecting Visits are completed, maintenance appointments are usually needed every 1-4 years. The time frame is difference for very client due to skin type, lifestyle, what service is preformed and many other factors. Ideally brows/lips will be faded 40%-50% from last appointment to ensure a on-going natural and seamless look.
